Product Designer
Why PD at Lendela?
We're growing our team to support our market-leading fintech product. Join a growing startup with presence in 3 countries, helping us to ensure that users love our product as we build new features. It's (primarily) a web-based product with an existing user base.
We are seeking an experienced Product Designer with a bias for action and a proactive problem-solver who will champion the user at every step of the development cycle.
Work in a startup environment where your contributions can have an outsized impact on the company. We're a product focussed company with 2 C-suites being former product managers.
The product is primarily a web based product, with the role focusing on the borrower user persona. This is not just making things look pretty but simplifying their user journey from loan application to making the right loan choice.
You'll be responsible for the UX of the entire digital product and website, ensuring consistency with our brand message & guidelines. Through the experiences you craft, the user has to understand our brand proposition.
Be part of an international company, serving the Singapore & Hong Kong market. Knowing how to design for Chinese-speaking markets is useful but not required.
Join a mature product environment, with other product managers and technical leads. Supported by an experienced tech team and data analytics team.
The role is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - where our tech, design, product, data teams are based.
Key Responsibilities. You're someone who...
... can handle end-to-end ownership. Take charge of the entire design process, from initial discovery and user research to wireframing, prototyping, and visual hand-off. And with enough experience to know when the details matter and when they don't.
... thinks in systems. You think in workflows and user journeys, not just screens. Contribute and maintain our growing Design Systems, ensuring consistency and scalability as we launch new features.
... is a great communicator. You'll be partnering closely with PMs and Engineers to ensure outcomes are successful - by articulating the "why" behind design decisions, not focussing on pixel-perfection.
... has strong user empathy as borrowers are navigating a complex user journey with technical terms. Although conversion rates are important we place emphasis on doing what's best for the user. This means understanding customer pain points through user interviews and distilling feedback into insights.
... has a get-things-done attitude. You'll be driving various initiatives at the same time at various stages of the product lifecycle. You have good instincts to make decisions based on incomplete information, rather than waiting.
... is able to be a design advocate. You'll be expected to set a standard, and be able to bring people into your vision. The amount of influence you will have will depend on the leadership qualities of the candidate.
... has all the basics that make up the day to day at a minimum.
Tactical day-to-day: Designing screens in Figma, building components, and prototyping. Ensuring smooth developer hand-off and clean designs that can be translated to code via AI.
Analytical: Working with data analytics, screen recordings, user interviews etc to make informed decisions or identify fiction. Map user journeys and workflows.
Organised & detailed-oriented: Keep your Figma files, documentation, research etc organised. Maintain design systems so they are reusable.
Requirements for this role
Min 5+ years work experience in a UX or similar role, preferably in a startup
Must have a demonstrable record of delivering results, preferably in a startup. Showing you're comfortable with ambiguity and managing priorities
Must have a degree of ownership, agency and bias for action
Experience working in a tech/product company is preferred but not required
Figma proficiency - designing with scalable, responsive layout and dev hand-offs in mind. Manage interactive prototyping
Strong fundamentals in design and UX principles, with an eye for detail and good design taste
Excellent English written and verbal communication is a must
You must be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Remote is NOT possible in this role
