About Lendela
Founded in 2018, Lendela is a fast-growing fintech on a mission to simplify financing and enable greater financial access. Our platform matches borrowers with personalised loan options through a simple application, empowering borrowers with choice and transparency while offering an alternative to the cumbersome and opaque traditional lending landscape.
Since our inception, we have facilitated over 400,000 loan applications alongside more than 100 lending partners. In 2023, we successfully raised US$5 million in an oversubscribed Series A to scale our unique model across Asia Pacific. Our backers include Singlife co-founder Walter de Oude's Chocolate Ventures as well as prominent Singapore-based VC firm Cocoon Capital. Lendela currently serves customers in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Why APM at Lendela?
We're growing our team to support our market-leading fintech product. Join a fast growing startup with presence in 3 countries to help us ensure that users love our product as we build new features. It's a (primarily) web-based product with complex logic-heavy backend, and an existing user base.
We are seeking a hungry, early-career Product Manager who is eager to learn, has a bias for action, and wants to grow fast in a product-focused environment.
Work in a startup environment where your contributions can have an outsized impact on the company. We're a product focussed company with 2 C-suites being former product managers.
The product is primarily a web based product serving 3 customers: the borrower, lenders, and Lendela's customer success team. The core logic of the system is our intelligent matching algorithm between borrowers and lenders. Another key system is our integrated customer communication and retention platform.
You'll be challenged creatively and analytically. A large part of the business is customer acquisition, so any B2C exposure will be useful. In addition, it is data and analytics heavy with a smattering of APIs with our partners - so you'll need to be comfortable looking through tables and technical docs too.
Join a mature product environment alongside experienced product managers and UX. You'll be mentored and supported, with a clear path to grow into a PM role.
Be part of an international company, serving the Singapore & Hong Kong market.
The role is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (where our tech, product, data teams are based).
Key Responsibilities. You're someone who...
... is hungry to take ownership. You won't wait to be told what to do. You take initiative on your assigned areas, staying detail-oriented enough to ensure UX and copy are on point and organised enough to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
... is data-curious. You don't just ship features, you want to know if they worked. You're comfortable pulling data, forming a hypothesis, and building a narrative from what you find. You'll be supported by a data team, but the drive to measure has to come from you.
... has genuine user empathy. We serve 3 users: borrower, lender & customer success. Understanding their needs by asking the right questions in research sessions and advocating for them is something you'll do naturally.
... has a get-things-done attitude. You'll support multiple product initiatives at various stages of the product lifecycle simultaneously. You're comfortable with ambiguity and don't let perfect be the enemy of done.
... is comfortable with complexity. We're a fintech, which means business rules, edge cases, and integrations are part of everyday life. You don't need to be an engineer, but must be comfortable understanding complex system flows.
... communicates clearly. You must write PRDs or explain requirements to engineers. Keep stakeholders informed and explain product decisions. You write and speak with clarity.
... has all the basics that make up the day to day at a minimum.
Documentation: Write clear PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria that give engineering and design what they need to build with confidence. Good writing is a core part of this job.
Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with engineering, design, marketing, and customer success to move initiatives forward. You're the connective tissue between teams, keeping everyone aligned without being a bottleneck.
Hands-on launches: Support go-to-market planning and help coordinate product launches with relevant stakeholders. Execute what's needed in a hands-on manner to keep things on track.
Requirements for this role
1–3 years of work experience. A background in product management, business analysis, UX, software development, or a cross-functional ops or project role is ideal. A formal PM title is not required, but you must be able to demonstrate structured thinking and a track record of delivering outcomes.
Demonstrable record of getting things done, even in ambiguous environments.
Must have a degree of ownership, agency, and bias for action.
Excellent English written and verbal communication is a must.
Technical fluency is a plus. You don't need to code, but being comfortable discussing APIs, browsing database tables, and working with engineers will set you apart.
Nice to have, but not required: AI experience, fintech background, B2C product exposure.
You must be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Remote is NOT possible in this role.
